It had the theory that I wanted but it also had a lot of practical aspects that I could relate to. Also my tutor gave me a lot of practical ways to improve my marks, which was good. Roland ON1A1F - course completed Oct. 2008
I enjoyed the creative and challenging course materials. The reading material was interesting and concise. The writing assignments were challenging and I felt a sense of satisfaction from completing them. There was very little I didn't like about the course. I think there was a little bit too much emphasis on "spelling mistakes". I believe that even the most thorough, professional publications have a few typos on occasion. On the other hand, I discovered online spell checks too late. Elijah ON197B - course completed Sept. 2008
I enjoyed reading the feedback I received from my tutor. I actually looked forward to my tutor's comments. Because the interactions were online, it was easy for me to refer back to them. I also liked the different subjects that were covered in the course. The materials have helped me to get a good sense of how the English language works and how it can be taught. I took advantage of both the framework of the materials as well as my tutor’s comments to explore the English language. I am going to use these materials in my future studies. I guess the only thing that would have been helpful would be a section on improving one's English Language skills. But understandably, ICAL is for people who want to be trained as teachers. Thank you ICAL for opening this new world for me. Edinah ONB9D - course completed Aug. 2008
I enjoyed working on a long distance TESL course. It was the first internet course for me. In the beginning it was hard to understand what direction to go, and I disliked working without a deadline but from the second module onwards I enjoyed it! Maria ON1941 - course completed Aug. 2008
Overall, I felt the assignments were very valuable and I learned a great deal. I have always been a good self-teacher, and the structure of this course suited me well in that regard. As in many things, what you get out of it is what you put in, but the minimum requirements were sufficiently challenging and largely very useful exercises. Robert ON19AE - course completed Aug. 2008
I like that it was not too grammar intensive; I've spent years learning correct grammar and what I need to learn now are proper instruction methods, lesson ideas, teaching tips, etc. which is what I got from this course. Andrew ON1941 - course completed Jul. 2008
I took the TP course. It was a real challenge and not one of those "fly by night" courses. It really made me think and my tutors never let me write mediocre work and accept it. At th emsate otm he would give me plenty of encouragement, feedback and detailed comments. Danna G18FE - course completed Jun. 2008
I really enjoyed the variety of questions for each module as they always made me "think" and "reflect" upon different aspects of ESL teaching. Although I never met my online tutor, Miri, her helpful and friendly comments made me feel as though we were a lot closer. I just want to take this opportunity to thank her once again for all her help. I always looked forward to receiving her feedback as her comments allow me to make the necessary changes to improve my assignments. Annabelle ON1995 - course completed Apr. 2008
It was very helpful not to have a deadline, since I was not in a rush to complete the course. It was affordable, informative and fun to interact with my tutor. I was always impressed by her quick response and thorough attention to details. She gave many helpful suggestions and reflected on each of my answers. Great! Jessica ON13CD - course completed Mar. 2008
I thought the modules were comprehensive, with depth rather than just length. Susanne ON118C - course completed Mar. 2008
Hi Larry, Thanks for being with me these 14+ months or so, I really appreciate the hard work that you have invested in my certification. My plans are for somewhere in the Gulf, if I get there I'll let you know! Thanks again! Robin ON1746 - course completed Feb. 2008
Likes - My tutor + the organisation and process of completing the modules in conjunction with Mytesl. Dislikes - Could have more audio/video portions for blended learning (but now I see that ICAL has started with video as of late Nov.!) Joanne ON196D - course completed Dec. 2007
I liked the interaction with the tutor. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Her explanations of where I needed to make corrections was exceptional. As for the course I felt sometimes the modules left gaps in the instruction--didn't go into enough explanation of what was expected on the tests. But for the most part were fairly comprehensive. Having taken certification courses in the past, I found this one fair and comprehensive. Thanks for the opportunity. Martin ON18A6 course completed Nov. 2007
I like the assignments most because they are stimulating and I can really learn a lot from them. Honestly, I can't think of anything that I don't like about the course. My interaction with the tutor has been excellent. His suggestions have been most valuable. I take him more as a friend than just as another tutor. I actually congratulate myself for having chosen your organization to qualify myself as a TESL teacher. Gordon ON171B - course completed Nov. 2007
To one who thought he knew it all, it was a big 'wake-up' call. Ian ON1728 - course completed Oct. 2007
It really challenged me, and all the information provided online makes a book when you print it out. It will be a good reference. Molly ON1891 - course completed Sept. 2007 |
