Jay's experience is the product of a rich and varied background in education, business administration, psychology, and computers. Originally from Miami, Florida, he began teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) part-time in the 1980s while working primarily as a business and computer consultant. After growing older and wiser, and embracing the joy of teaching more and more, he returned to university to complete a second degree in psychology and subsequently decided to devote full time to education and psychology interests. In 1995, Jay moved to Thessaloniki, Greece where he resides permanently, raises 2 children and combines his professional and personal interests.

Currently, Jay is the director of a Greece based network of affiliated ELT professionals who support both personal and professional development. He still actively teaches English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the classroom to students of all ages and levels.

In Greece, Jay served as the Director of Studies for two of the largest language schools in Thessaloniki. For a number of years, he also operated his own school, supporting English programs and academic support services for local university students. He has also worked part-time with the Hellenic American Union as an examiner for University of Michigan English Language Certificate Examinations.

Beyond teaching and consulting, Jay's spare time is usually filled with profession related activities he "really does" enjoy! He has authored, co-authored and contributed to at least 6 EFL related publications and will publish soon a psychology oriented text on Reflective Teaching and Personal Development. He also conducts professional and commercial seminars for publishers, is a regular presenter at local and national TESOL conventions, and is an active member of TESOL Greece as well as a current supervisor and former board member of TESOL Macedonia-Thrace (North Greece).

Jay believes that our profession, like life, is what we make of it and that it too is ours to enjoy and share with others.
